About Last Attempt
A weekly World of Warcraft guildcast that grew into a media project. Run by people who raid, push keys, and read every patch note — not by a newsroom.
The short version
Last Attempt started in February 2026 as the Last Attempt Guildcast: a weekly show covering the week in Warcraft from inside the game — raid nights, keys, patch notes, and the community around all of it. Thirty-odd episodes later it is still weekly, and it has grown into more: the articles on this site, a Guild Spotlight, and a community Discord.
The show covers what happened in Warcraft that week: news, patch notes, developer communication, the Race to World First, Mythic+ and PvP esports, community discussion, and whatever our own raid nights taught us. The articles are where we slow down and think about one thing at a time.
What we're trying to be
There is no shortage of places to read a Blizzard announcement. There are fewer places where the announcement gets contextualized — where someone who has been playing continuously, following the theorycrafting Discords, and watching how the community reacts explains why it matters and what it will actually feel like in game.
That's the gap we're aiming at. Not the fastest source. Not the most exhaustive database. The place where Warcraft information gets discussed by people who play the game.
How we handle information
We try to keep four things visibly separate:
- What Blizzard has confirmed. Patch notes, official posts, developer interviews, presentation slides.
- What we think. Our reaction, our reasoning, our experience playing it.
- What the community is saying. Reactions, discoveries, and the arguments that are happening.
- What nobody knows yet. The questions that can only be answered once players have the thing in their hands — and who is likely to answer them.
We also try to be honest about expertise. The host started in Wrath of the Lich King and has played every expansion since; the whole cast knows the game's systems well. But knowing enough to analyze what a change means is not the same as having personally run the simulations that settle the optimal answer. When the answer belongs to a specialist, we'll point at the specialist.
The community
Last Attempt is not one guild. The host raids with Second Attempt, and the show's name comes from a Vanilla-era guild in that family tree — but the point of the community is to make room for every guild: progression, social, RP, stream-anchored, keys-only. The Guild Spotlight exists to tell those stories, with live progression data and the guild's own words. The Discord and the in-game community (code 5pRrZnqfXMl) are open to anyone.
