Season 2 Great Vault & Mythic 0 Changes
Blizzard has locked in exactly how loot works during Season 2's pre-season week — and the old "skip the vault for a bonus roll" trick is dead.
- Patch 12.1 launches August 11 with a pre-season week before Season 2 formally begins August 18, and Blizzard has confirmed exactly how loot works during that gap. The first Great Vault won't offer Bonus Rolls, closing the loophole where players skipped a low-item-level vault slot for another shot at loot — the World row caps at Champion 3/6 that week. Bonus Rolls return the following week (August 25) once you've unlocked at least three panes.
- Unlock Timeline:
- Week of Aug 11 (pre-season): Heroic & Mythic 0 dungeons live, Mythic 0 on a weekly lockout dropping Champion 1/6 (292 ilvl) gear; Delves 1–11 plus "?" Nemesis difficulty open (no Bountiful Delves yet); Great Vault credit starts accruing.
- Week of Aug 18 (Season 2 begins): Mythic 0 flips to a daily lockout, Mythic+ keystones unlock, Bountiful Delves and Coffer Keys return, and the raid and rated PvP go live.
- Week of Aug 25: First real Bonus Roll opportunity in the Great Vault.
On the table
- With no Bonus Roll on the first vault, is it even worth doing extra vault activities that week, or should the guild just coast into raid lockouts?
- Mythic 0 only resets weekly for that first week — does that change how we approach alt gearing before Season 2 fully opens?

The Venomous Abyss Raid Preview
The Venomous Abyss, Midnight's next raid, opens August 18 with eight bosses across five difficulties — but Story Mode won't be available until the following week.
- Blizzard confirmed the full unlock schedule: Normal, Heroic, Mythic, and Raid Finder Wing 1 go live August 18, with Story Mode and RF Wing 2 following August 25, and the remaining RF wings staggering out through September 8. The raid picks up right where the patch's story leaves off — Zul'jan has freed Ula'tek's broods from their ancient prison, and it's on players to stop her before she's fully unleashed. Raid Finder requires a minimum item level of 273 to queue.
- Bosses & Highlights:
- Eight bosses: Nek'zali the Soulcoiler, Entombed Sentinels, Vashnik the Malignant, The Lost Explorers, Sszorak, The Twin Fangs, The Coiled Altar, and Ula'tek herself.
- Race achievements: Cutting Edge for the first Mythic Ula'tek kill, plus Hall of Fame for the first 200 guilds worldwide.
- Tier sets are up: full class armor previews are live — Resto Druid's is Bark of the Enigmatic Dreamwatcher.
On the table
- Story Mode getting held back a week — good call from Blizzard to protect the Mythic race, or an annoying delay for folks who just want the story?
- Eight bosses again, same as Voidspire — are we ready to call this tier's difficulty yet, or is that a Hall of Fame conversation for later?

New Lairs Feature: Tidebound Grotto
Lairs — Blizzard's new spin on world bosses — debut with the Tidebound Grotto, but Blizzard had to walk back an early Mythic-loot exploit before it even launched.
- Lairs are instanced, scalable world boss fights: solo players can queue into World difficulty and get folded into a group of 5–40, while premade groups can tackle Normal, Heroic, or a flexible 15–25 player Mythic. The first one, Tidebound Grotto, has players swim beneath the Coiled Isle to fight the naga sorceress Nymrissa Wavecaller. Blizzard originally listed all difficulties as available August 11 — which would have let split-raid guilds grab Mythic-quality loot a full week before Season 2 began — but that's now been corrected so only World difficulty unlocks August 11, with Normal through Mythic following August 18.
- Loot & Difficulty Scaling:
- World (ilvl 230 req): drops Veteran 1/6 gear, scaling up through Normal (Champion 1/6), Heroic (Hero 1/6), and Mythic (Myth 1/6, ilvl 318).
- Guild Run variant: clearing it as a guild group unlocks a separate achievement track.
- Second of its kind: Lairs launched with Rotmire in Sporefall back in Patch 12.0.7.
On the table
- Now that the early-Mythic-loot window is closed, does Tidebound Grotto matter for our comp, or is it just an alt-gearing errand?
- Solo-queueing into a 40-person World-difficulty pug sounds chaotic — anyone actually excited to try that, or is everyone doing the premade Mythic version?

Housing Blueprints & New Campsites
Patch 12.1 makes housing more shareable with a new Blueprints system, and adds two more Silvermoon campsites to unlock through weekly quests.
- Blueprints let players save and import full housing layouts through a dedicated UI button, with up to 50 saved per account and automatic backups whenever you import something new. Exterior and full-build blueprints stay faction-specific, but interiors are universal and can be shared across the divide. The catch: blueprint codes aren't permanent — they're just a server-side reference, so if the original creator deletes their blueprint, everyone else's copy of that code stops working.
- Separately, two new Warband campsites are unlockable in Silvermoon City through weekly quests already familiar to most players. The bright version comes from repeating Lady Liadrin's "Unity Against the Void" quest for Silvermoon Citizen's Emblems, while the void-tinged version comes from Vareesa Windrunner's new "Trailing Xal'atath" collection quest — each needs four turn-ins to unlock.
On the table
- Anyone actually planning to build and share a blueprint, or is this mostly going to get used to grab someone else's build off Wowhead?
- The void-tinged Silvermoon campsite sounds like a fun cosmetic chase — worth the weekly quest grind for you?

Faction Spotlight: Zul'jarra's Forces
The only new renown track in Patch 12.1 belongs to Zul'jarra's Forces, and it's almost entirely a cosmetic reward chase.
- 20 renown levels, sold by Jan'sari the Watchful at Tokka's Landing. Highlights:
- Mounts: Violet-Backed Skyfang, Indigo Coiled Horror, and Spirit of Tok'jara (unlocked through a questline in the Vaults of Atal'Utek).
- Player power: a handful of profession recipes and a couple of points for the Altar of Corrosion's outdoor talent system — basically the only non-cosmetic gain on the whole track.
- Renown 20: unlocks the title "[Name], Hash'ura of Zul'jarra."
On the table
- With almost nothing but cosmetics on this track, is anyone actually going to grind it out day one, or does it wait until we're bored?
- Which of the new mounts is everyone actually chasing — Skyfang, the Coiled Horror, or the spirit questline mount?

New Comic: Legacy of Rage
Blizzard dropped a new Midnight comic, Legacy of Rage, digging into the young troll Zul'jan's slide toward the power that unleashes this raid tier's villain.
- The comic follows Zul'jan, a young Amani troll torn between his people's fading legacy and the temptation of ancient power, as he's guided down a dangerous path by a mysterious mentor. It leans into his grandfather's legacy and fractured loyalties, setting up exactly why he ends up freeing Ula'tek's broods in The Venomous Abyss.
On the table
- Does anyone actually read these tie-in comics, or is this the first you're hearing Zul'jan's backstory?
- A "mysterious mentor" pushing a young troll toward forbidden power — anyone want to guess who that is before we find out in-game?

Project Camelot Moves to Vendor Server
The mysterious Project Camelot build — widely believed to be a new take on WoW Classic — just moved from Blizzard's internal dev servers to a vendor server, a step usually reserved for external compatibility testing.
- Dataminers have tracked this "1.60 build" since October 2025, and the move to a vendor server suggests Blizzard may be preparing to let outside partners test hardware and software compatibility — often a late-stage production signal. It's fueling speculation that a playable version could show up at BlizzCon 2026, similar to how Season of Discovery was showcased there in 2023.
On the table
- If Project Camelot really is "Classic 2.0," what era or twist would actually get you to reroll?
- BlizzCon reveal or not — is anyone even hyped for another Classic iteration at this point, or is Classic fatigue setting in?
